Are you self-conscious about your weight? Your concern may be as simple as having a hard time finding clothes that you feel comfortable in, or as serious as being concerned that your weight is putting your health at risk. Obesity and weight gain are incredibly common issues that are unfortunately a challenge to overcome. Some people may also suffer from over-eating disorders or other mental issues that cause them to have a lack of control over their weight. Dieting doesn’t always work or provide long-lasting results when a deeper disorder exists. At Whole Health Weight Loss Institute, board-certified surgeons Dr. Crystine Lee and Dr. Scott Perryman perform life-altering procedures that will improve your body and your quality of life!
If you struggle with obesity and want to see a change in your life, we can help guide you on your journey towards your transformation!
Being overweight, or obese, will cause many health and mental issues. Obesity is a complex health issue and is unique to each person. There are many different factors that can contribute to someone being overweight, such as genetics, inactivity, poor diet, medication use, and other behaviors.
Losing significant weight will benefit you both mentally and physically.
Weight loss can provide a myriad of health benefits, such as:
- Improved Sleep
- Better Hormonal Balance
- Increased Endorphins
- Less Joint Pain
- Clearer Skin

- Improved Immune System
- Improved Mental State
We enable our patients to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Just the eight benefits above will transform and improve your day-to-day life significantly. With a healthy weight, you will feel better and regain control of your health. Weight loss will do more than improve your confidence; it can elongate your life.
How to Approach Weight Loss
It is important to have a positive mental outlook on your health before approaching weight loss. Being healthy is a lifestyle that includes the benefit of a healthy and consistent weight. To get a better grasp on your weight, calculate your BMI using our provided BMI Calculator.
BMI CALCULATOR
BMI stands for Body Mass Index.
This will help you understand if you are at a healthy weight, overweight or obese. BMI measures the size of your body and uses standard weight categories to help you and professionals understand your weight status. Knowing your BMI and the average BMI for someone of your age and height will help you better understand your current health. If you are overweight or obese, your BMI will help you have a goal in mind for what a healthy weight is for yourself.
Weight Loss Procedures
There are many advanced weight loss procedures available today that will help overweight individuals gain control over their weight. Procedures include:
ADJUSTABLE GASTRIC BAND
This is a hollow ring that is positioned around the upper stomach. The band controls the opening between the upper and lower stomach. Inflating or deflating the band is controlled by increasing or decreasing a saline solution. Adjustments to the band are performed through an attached port that is placed underneath the skin.
The procedure is safe, minimally-invasive and provides dramatic weight loss.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and sedation to ensure the patient’s comfort and safety. A thin incision is made where the surgeon inserts the band and secures it around the upper section of the stomach, to create a small pocket. The band is connected to a thin tube that lies just below the skin, which acts as a small port for saline to be inserted or extracted.
With the gastric band inflated, it will work to provide a smaller stomach outlet. This will help the patient eat less and will slow down the process of food entering the lower portion of the stomach. This helps patients feel full sooner, stay full longer, and reduces the sensation of hunger.
Following the procedure, a liquid diet will be required for the first week and a soft food diet for the next two weeks as the stomach adjusts to the band. Follow-up appointments will be helpful to ensure the patient is recovering well and adjusting to their new lifestyle.
INTRAGASTRIC BALLOON
This is a non-invasive surgery that does not require incisions and is performed in an endoscopic bariatric procedure. An un-inflated silicon balloon is inserted through the mouth into the stomach using an endoscope (a flexible camera). Once positioned, the balloon is inflated to about the size of a grapefruit with saline, or sterile salt water, solution. The balloon slows down the digestion process and, by taking up space, makes patients feel full faster.
This is a new weight loss procedure that provides a convenient, quick option for treating obesity.
The procedure is performed under sedation to diminish any discomfort. Once the balloon has been inserted and positioned in the stomach, it is inflated with about six hundred milliliters of saline solution. This will help curb the patient’s appetite and help them control their food portions. The balloon will be removed after six months.
If you have a BMI in the range of thirty to forty and are overweight by thirty to one-hundred pounds, this procedure is ideal for you. Twenty-five to thirty percent weight loss is achievable and can transform you within a year!
VERTICAL SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY
This procedure removes eighty to ninety percent of the exterior stomach, where Ghrelin (a hunger hormone) is produced. This procedure decreases the patient’s hunger and will help them better control how much they eat. Patients can lose up to sixty-five percent of their excess body weight within a year.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon will apply incisions through which they will perform a reductive surgery on their stomach. Permanent, titanium staples will be used to reshape the stomach to a narrow size.
This surgery is a metabolic operation that can resolve problems such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
ROUX-EN-Y GASTRIC BYPASS
This procedure removes ninety-five percent of the stomach and redirects food to the small intestine, resulting in lower food consumption and a reduction in the body’s absorption of calories. There are many ways this procedure can be performed to provide the patient’s desired result. Essentially, incisions will be made so the surgeon can reshape and reduce the size of the stomach with staples. This procedure can help patients lose up to seventy-five percent of excess body weight within a year.
If you have a BMI greater than 35 and have one or more weight-related health problem, this procedure will help to transform your life!
How to Maintain a Healthy Weight
We all struggle with keeping weight off once we’ve lost it.
There are many ways to maintain your ideal weight, such as eating healthy and exercising. Whole Health Weight Loss Institute provides their patients with opportunities to learn more about diet and health so they can retain long-lasting results from their surgeries. These opportunities include:
SUPPORT GROUPS
At the Whole Health Weight Loss Clinic, our holistic approach includes support groups that will help you stay on-track and keep you accountable during your weight loss journey. Whole Health Weight Loss Institute provides a monthly support group that meets to encourage post-operative patients to stay healthy. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow with other patients.
NUTRITIONAL SERVICES
The patient will be educated on what a healthy, realistic diet looks like and how it will benefit their life.
Your diet impacts your mental health and physique. That’s why Whole Health Weight Loss Institute offers nutritional services to their patients. Before a patient undergoes a surgical procedure, they will be paired with a dietician. The dietician will strive to build a relationship with you and learn what your goals are and what dietary habits you are struggling to overcome. They will then design a diet for you and your health goals.
CULINARY PROGRAM
A healthy approach to diet is a foundation for a healthy life. Dr. Lee and Dr. Perryman make sure they provide their patients with many different ways to maintain their health and provide life-altering solutions that are long-lasting.
Another opportunity they provide their patients with is a monthly culinary program. Patients will be able to learn how to cook healthy meals for themselves or the whole family from an expert chef.
And in case a patient isn’t able to make it to the culinary night, the recipes are posted on Whole Health Weight Loss Institute’s website so anyone can be inspired to create these healthy meals.
Weight loss procedures may be an excellent solution for you if you are obese and having a hard time controlling your weight. Weight loss is one step in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
